As a parent of a young pre-schooler, I have quickly learnt that there are many alternative ways to use various objects in our household. A watering can and hose in the hands of my son is turned into a tap that can be turned off and on, a rotating sprinkler becomes a water fountain with a carefully placed broom, while a sofa in the living room when turned upside down becomes a tent at a campsite. Yes - living in my house can be rather chaotic, but the upside of all of this is that i get to witness first-hand the innate creativity of my son, and his ability to look at situations from a different perspective. In the mind of a little child, nothing is impossible, rather everything is possible. Children are therefore the very definition of what it is to be innovative.
Here at Mia Pelle, innovation is one of our key core values. We treasure these aforementioned child-like qualities that is the driver of creativity and innovation. Being able to look at skin and haircare from a different perspective is so important to us. This is why we publish poems by Adwoa Asiedu, as part of our regular blogs. As founder and director of Mia Pelle, i have been very closely involved in research on cutaneous diversity and most recently, along with four other international researchers (Professor Nina Jablonski, Rick Sturm, Dr Damilola Fajuyigbe and Dr Antoine Petit), we have developed a new scale for describing and classifying the full spectrum of human constitutive skin colour -The Eumelanin Human Skin Colour Scale.
Our vision for Mia Pelle is to be the home of innovation!
